How to set it up
- Pick the app
Open MacDupl and choose Cursor from the list of apps installed on your Mac. - Name and colour it
Call it "Work", "Client A" or "Personal", and give it one of nine icon tints. - Hit Create
About two seconds later there's a new Cursor in your Dock — sign into the second account and you're done.
Questions about Cursor
Why can't I just open a new Cursor window?
Cursor's built-in multi-window mode still shares the same AI account, extension settings, and configuration. A MacDupl instance is a fully separate app with its own Cursor account login, its own extensions, its own settings, and its own Dock icon — there is no bleed between instances.
Can I use two different Cursor accounts?
Yes. Each instance keeps its own session and AI subscription, so you can run a personal Cursor Pro account alongside a company or client account simultaneously.
Will my extensions and settings carry over?
No — and that is intentional. Each instance starts with its own clean profile. You can install and configure exactly the extensions you want for each context, without one set of settings leaking into the other.
Does this work with Cursor's AI features?
Yes. AI Composer, Tab completion, and chat all work per-instance. If each instance is signed into a different account, each has its own separate AI usage quota.
