Privacy Policy
This Privacy Policy explains what data the MacDupl application and the macdupl.app website collect and how it is handled. MacDupl is provided by Sigit Surya Kusuma ("we", "us"), the data controller for the limited processing described below. Contact: [email protected].
What the app does not collect
MacDupl contains no analytics, no telemetry, no advertising, and no cloud sync. The clones you create, the accounts you log into, your files, and your app data all stay on your Mac. We never receive, transmit, or store them.
Data the app processes
- License activation and validation. When you enter a license key, the app sends the license key and a device name (for example, "MacDupl on Your-Mac-Name") to our payment provider, Dodo Payments, to activate the license. It periodically re-validates the key by sending the key and an activation identifier. These are the only requests tied to your license, and they occur only after you enter a key. The app stores your key and activation identifier locally on your Mac; it does not store your name or email from the activation response.
- Update checks. To keep the app current, MacDupl periodically requests a small update feed from our update host. Like any web request, this necessarily discloses your device's IP address and the app version to that host. No account or license information is included.
Payments
Purchases are handled by Dodo Payments, acting as Merchant of Record. When you buy a license, you provide your payment and billing details directly to Dodo Payments — we never receive or store your card details. Dodo Payments processes that information as an independent controller under its own privacy policy; we receive only the information necessary to fulfill and support your order (such as your license key, order reference, and the email address on your order).
Review requests
About two weeks after you buy a license, we send one email asking how MacDupl is working for you. We use the email address and name from your order, which Dodo Payments shares with us, and the order reference so we can tell your answer comes from a real purchase. Answers are collected in a Google Form, and the email is sent through Resend. A queue of who is due an email, and who has opted out, is kept on Cloudflare. We do not send a second request, and every email carries an unsubscribe link that works immediately. If you are refunded or dispute a payment we do not send it.
Your answers are private to us unless you tick the option allowing us to quote you on macdupl.app, and we then publish only what you agreed to, under the name you chose or anonymously. Tell us at [email protected] and we will remove a published quote and your answers. This is separate from the app, which still collects nothing.
Product updates and offers
If you have bought a license, we may email you occasionally about MacDupl: product updates and new features, a newsletter, and occasional offers such as a discount on a future purchase. We send these because you are a MacDupl customer and we expect you to want to hear about the product you bought. We use the email address and name from your order, which Dodo Payments shares with us. They are held in a contact list at Resend, our email provider, which sends the messages on our behalf.
Every one of these emails has an unsubscribe link that works immediately, and you can also ask us at [email protected] to stop. Unsubscribing only stops these emails: it does not affect your license, your updates, or support, and we may still send you messages that are necessary for your purchase (such as a license or billing problem, or a security notice). We do not sell your details, and we do not send these emails to people who have not bought a license. This is separate from the app, which still collects nothing.
Affiliate program
If you apply to the affiliate program, we receive what you enter in the form: your name, email address, the code you asked for, and, if you fill them in, where you would share it and any notes. The form sends them to a private Google Sheet that only we can open. If we approve you, we create your discount code at Dodo Payments and ask you by email for a PayPal or Wise account to pay you through.
To work out your commission we look at which orders used your code and how much was paid. We do not share who those buyers are with you: your earnings sheet, a view-only Google Sheet shared with your email address alone, shows only the date and amount of each sale made with your code, your commission and its payout status. Payouts are made through PayPal or Wise, which handle your payment details under their own privacy policies. We keep payout records for as long as accounting and tax law requires; everything else is deleted if you leave the program and ask us to. Tell us at [email protected]. The app is not involved: it only opens the affiliate page in your browser.
The website
The macdupl.app website is a static site hosted on Cloudflare Pages. Our hosting provider may automatically log standard request metadata (such as IP address and browser type) for security and reliability. The site also uses Cloudflare Web Analytics to count page views and referrers. It is cookieless — it does not use any client-side state or cross-site identifiers to track you, and it cannot be used to single out or follow an individual visitor across websites. This is separate from the application described above: the MacDupl app itself has no analytics or telemetry of any kind — this section covers only the marketing website.
The site also uses Google Tag Manager, Google Analytics, and the Meta Pixel to understand which pages and marketing campaigns (including paid ads on Google and Meta) bring people to the site. On your first visit you'll see a banner asking whether to allow this. Decline sets no cookies at all and does not affect your download or trial. If you choose Accept, Google Analytics and the Meta Pixel set cookies and process your data under their own respective privacy policies; your choice is remembered in your browser's local storage (not a cookie) so the banner won't ask again, and you can change your mind at any time by clearing your browser's site data for macdupl.app. No analytics or advertising tag is active until you accept.
The home page displays Product Hunt, Twelve Tools, Startup Fame, Turbo0, and FoundrList badges, which are images loaded directly from those services' servers. Because your browser fetches them directly, each service receives the standard request metadata that any web request carries (such as your IP address and browser type) and handles it under its own privacy policy. We set no cookies for any of them, and they only appear on the home page. Aside from those badges and the analytics scripts described above, the site loads no other third-party resources — our fonts, styles and images are all served from macdupl.app.
Data retention
Review-request queue entries and form answers are kept until you ask us to delete them. If you unsubscribe, we keep your address on a suppression list so we never email you again. Your address stays on our product-update contact list until you unsubscribe or ask us to delete it, and an unsubscribe is remembered so you are not added again. License and order records are retained by us and by Dodo Payments for as long as needed to provide the product, support you, and meet legal and accounting obligations. Data stored locally by the app remains on your Mac until you remove the app or its data.
Your rights
Depending on where you live (for example under GDPR or CCPA/CPRA), you may have the right to access, correct, delete, or port the limited personal data we hold about you (such as your order and license records), and to object to or restrict certain processing. To exercise these rights, contact [email protected]. For payment and billing data held by Dodo Payments, please also refer to their privacy policy.
Children
MacDupl is not directed to children under 13 (or the equivalent minimum age in your country), and we do not knowingly collect personal data from them.
International transfers
Our providers (including Dodo Payments, Resend, and our hosting and update providers) may process data in countries other than yours. Where required, appropriate safeguards are applied by those providers.
Changes to this policy
We may update this policy from time to time. Material changes will be posted on this page with a revised "Last updated" date.
